Future changes to the Grid connection, Lithium battery technology and safety, gateway devices and the new grid, CPD points, drinks and snacks – all in just 2.5hrs from 4pm to 6.30pm

Join us to explore the latest developments in solar energy and prepare for important changes coming to NSW. Starting mid-2026, the NSW Government’s Emergency Backstop Mechanism and the Customer Energy Resource (CER) Installer Portal will be a requirement for all new and upgraded solar systems. The portal will simplify registering, testing and submitting compliance documentation, helping every installation meet the highest standards.
In this interactive workshop, Essential Energy will explain how the Emergency Backstop Mechanism supports grid stability and provide an overview of the CER Installer Portal’s functionality.
You’ll receive key updates, practical resources and expert guidance to help you and your customers transition smoothly to the new requirements and build the knowledge you’ll need for future training and compliance.

ASP Connections Manager Hamish Wheatley leads a team dedicated to helping electrical contractors, Accredited Service Providers and customers connect safely and efficiently to the network. With extensive expertise in electrical engineering, public lighting and project management, Hamish is committed to simplifying the connections process, supporting compliance and advancing Essential Energy’s mission to deliver reliable and sustainable electricity for all.

From 1 March 2026, all Certificates of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) must be submitted via the BCNSW eCert portal, as handwritten and PDF forms will no longer be accepted. Find out more about the new online portal for managing and submitting Certificates of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) in NSW.
Attend the Building Commission NSW presentation, engage with the speaker by asking questions, and seek clarification when needed. Consider queries such as: What advantages does this offer? How significant are the changes to the forms? Are paper-based forms still an option? Is it possible to complete the forms on a mobile device? How frequently must we replicate this information for other departments? Will there be a dedicated support phone line?

What to expect, what to avoid, and what the future will probably look like.
This presentation is intended for solar installers interested in implementing gateway devices. The presentation will share practical insights and lessons learned from working across all DNSP areas with CSIP-Aus and Emergency Backstop requirements nationwide. There is a wide variety of requirements and approaches in different states. For example, Western Australia’s battery VPP plan focuses on integrating distributed storage, while Victoria’s Emergency Backstop emphasises rapid response capabilities. These variations require tailored approaches for each region, and understanding these differences is key to successful implementation.
